Swans Trail Farms is a favorite among families and school children, perhaps best known for its Washington State Corn Maze, and it’s beautiful facilities for country weddings and receptions.
The farm is owned by Ben and Carol Krause, who purchased the Staswick Dairy farm in 1984. Renaming it Swans Trail Farms “Gentle Ben” continued to operate the farm as a dairy, building upon what the Staswicks had established as a quality dairy with a fine herd of cows.
The year 1997 was very eventful for Swans Trail Farms and the Krause family. On Aug 19, they hosted an open house, inviting the public to visit the farm and enjoy lunch, tours, music, and the grand opening of our now-famous Washington State Corn Maze. More than 4,000 people attended the event, and a new enterprise was begun!
Even though Ben, Carol and family were named the Snohomish County Dairy Family of the Year that year, the Krause’s sold the milking cows in November of 1997. The new mission of Swans Trail Farms was now to provide visitors with a taste of farm life, and to provide the public with a place where people can be together for fun and celebration in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Helping Ben and Carol full time are their two younger sons, Nate and Curt. Their daughter, Beth, and Nate’s wife Kim, both help out with weddings and during the fall season. Oldest son Todd (Kelley) and family lend a hand during the busy season of fall, as well.
Although they no longer have dairy animals, Swans Trail Farms keeps lots of other farm animals such as goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and on occasion kittens and puppies to add to all the other activities and attractions of Swans Trail Farms.
